Are you really PASSIONATE about a career?
We have all heard the saying,
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your
life.” Or “Find your passion! Choose a
career you are passionate about.” But can you really just choose a job you
love? And are you really PASSIONATE
about a career? Mark Cuban gave his thoughts
on this subject and what he said can be applicable to many: “Let me make this
as clear as possible: When you work hard
at something you become good at it. When
you become good at something you enjoy doing it more. When you enjoy doing something, there is a
good chance you will become passionate about it.” If you have an interest in something but
don’t feel passionate about it, stick with it anyway. Work hard, get better and maybe you will
begin to realize that this line of work really is your “passion.”
It’s great to be passionate
about a career—many people are and many find great happiness and success in
their chosen profession, but do not be discouraged if you are not. Sometimes it takes additional exploring,
experimenting and good old fashioned hard work to determine if something is
right for you. If you are not sure of a
direction to take or need guidance on how to get started picking a
major/career, come to the ACC and speak with a counselor!
